UNITED ARAB EMIRATES TRANSIT VISAS:

Required by all except those as noted above and those continuing their journey to another country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours.

A 96 hour ("Dubai Stop-over") transit visa can be obtained on arrival at DXB for 127USD provided:Travelling to a third country through DXB International, Transit time is at least 8 hours, Holding return/onward ticket and a hotel reservation & Travelling at least one sector (inbound or outbound) on Emirates (EK). This is not applicable to any female passengers aged under 30 years of age being nationals of of CIS countries or nationals of Afghanistan, Iraq, Niger, Somalia & Yemen

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES HEALTH:

There are currently no compulsory vaccinations required.

Recommended immunisations: Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Malaria, Polio, TB, Tetanus & Typhoid.

Hints in United Arab Emirates: Women should dress conservatively. Many executives speak English; a few words of Arabic will be appreciated. Muslim conventions apply. It is the convention to use the right and not the left hand when passing or receiving anything. Visits during Ramadan should be avoided. Smoking is accepted but subject to some restriction in public places and public buildings, and particularly during Ramadan. Alcohol is available in major hotels and restaurants. On social occasions be reasonably punctual and dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. There are some limitations on photography
Tipping in United Arab Emirates: Service charges are added to bills in restaurants & hotels, additional tips are discretionary. Tips are not customary for taxis
Hotel Classification in United Arab Emirates: Dubai has introduced an official classification system overseen by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing which uses the standard 1- to 5-star ratings. There is no official classification system in the rest of UAE, so arbitrary categories of £ up to £££££ are given here based on rack rates, facilities and perceived quality; these equate to the standard 1- to 5-star system.
