SWEDEN TRANSIT VISAS:

Required by all except those as noted above and those holding onward tickets and transiting on the same calendar day to the following nationals providing they hold a valid visa for Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Ireland (Rep. of), Japan, Liechtenstein, Romania, USA or United Kingdom, travelling to any non-Schengen Member State OR returning from Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Ireland (Rep.of), Japan, Romania, USA or United Kingdom after having used the visa OR holding a residence Permit issued by Andorra, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Ireland (Rep of), Japan, Romania, San Marino, UK & USA to nationals of: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, D R of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia & Sri Lanka 

SWEDISH HEALTH:

Participants of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) which allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care.

There are currently no compulsory vaccinations required.

Recommended immunisations: Tick-Borne Encephalitis.

SWEDISH WEATHER:

Most of Sweden has a large range of temperatures between summer and winter. Rainfall is quite low except on higher ground and it is wetter in summer than winter when most rain in the north falls as snow. Winters become colder and longer travelling northwards with many days below freezing. Summer temperatures are similar throughout the country as long days in the north help to raise temperatures to the same as those in the relatively warm south

Hints in Sweden: Most executives speak English as their second language. Smoking in many public places and on public transport, is not permitted. On social occasions be punctual. Dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. Very strict laws against drinking and driving apply. The minimum drinking age is 18 years if purchased in bars & restaurants and 20 years if purchased through retail outlets
Tipping in Sweden: A service charge is usually included in the price. Tips for taxis are around 10%
Hotel Classification in Sweden: A unified classification system for Swedish hotels was introduced at the end of 2003. The hotels are assessed on the basis of 130 criteria, which in turn can give the hotels between one and five stars. The hotel inspections are performed once a year by inspectors from the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association, SHR). All classified hotels are then given a sign that is only valid if equipped with a sticker for the current year. There are two hotel categories: "Hotel" is used to refer to hotels with restaurant facilities serving other meals than breakfast "Hotel Garni" refers to hotels serving only breakfast (maximum of 4 stars)
