Tibet visas

This is normally obtained by your tour operator but if travelling independantly via China you can contact the Tourist Bureau of Tibet (Fax: 0086 891 6334632) to obtain an approval before applying for a Chinese visa. Please note that any Chinese visa previously issued in your passport will be cancelled upon entry into Tibet. 

If you are travelling to Tibet via Nepal you can only apply for the Tibetan visa from the Chinese Embassy in Katmandu.

Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas.

Recommended immunisations: Cholera, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese B Encephalitis, Malaria, Meningitis, Polio, TB, Tetanus & Typhoid.

Risks: Malaria exists all year in rural areas of the Terai districts (including forested hills & forest areas) of Bara, Dhanukha, Kapilvastu, Mahotari, Parsa, Rautahat, Rupendehi, Sarlahi and especially along the Indian border. Rabies.

NEPAL WEATHER:

The rainy season is between Jun-Sep when temperatures are at their highest. The remainder of the year has warm and settled weather. Kathmandu has a pleasant climate with temperatures ranging from between 18-33°C. Rainfall decreases from east to west

Hints in Nepal: Women should dress conventionally. Some people, particularly women, may prefer not to shake hands with those of the opposite sex. The business community generally speaks English. Care should be taken to respect Hindu and other religious conventions. It is the convention to use the right and not the left hand when shaking hands and passing or receiving anything. Footwear should be removed before entering places of worship and temples. Men and women should not touch each other. On social occasions punctuality is appreciated. Dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. There are some restrictions on photography. There is no official minimum drinking age
