Required by all except those as noted above and those continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the airport transit lounge (Expect Nationals of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia & Sri Lanka, unless holding a permanent resident of Austria, Belgium, Canada, Ireland Rep, Japan, San Marino or United Kingdom)

There is no hotel facility at the airport

MALTA HEALTH:

Participants of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) which allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care.

Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas. Infants under 9 months are exempt although may be subject to isolation or surveillance if coming from an infected area.

Recommended immunisations: Tetanus & Polio.

Hints for Malta: All executives speak English, many also speak Italian, French and/or German. Smoking in restaurants and bars is prohibited unless a designated smoking room is provided. There are also restrictions on smoking on public transport and public areas. On social occasions be punctual. Dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. The minimum drinking age is 18 years

Hotel Classification in Malta: All accommodation in Malta is officially classified and graded. Hotels are graded using the standard star system from 2 star up to 5 star. Self-catering developments (which may also offer "normal" hotel rooms) are classified either as a holiday village (officially called a "Tourist Village") with extensive grounds offering a full range of hotel services including catering, leisure and other facilities; "Holiday Complex" with less ground and fewer facilities; or "Aparthotel" providing only hotel and catering services. These are all graded from 4 star down to 2 star, based on facilities. Guesthouses and basic self-catering apartments (with or without pool) are classified as Standard or Comfort.
