Chad transit visas are required by all except those as noted above and those continuing their journey to a third country within 48 hours by the same or first connecting aircraft without leaving the airport, provided holding confirmed tickets & documentation
(Compulsory vaccinations:) Yellow fever certificate required by all. It is also recommended that travellers making 3 or more visits per year, stays of more than 3 months in a rural area, high-risk occupational groups & backpackers staying more than 1 month have the following up to date immunisations: Cholera, diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, malaria, meningitis, polio, TB, tetanus & typhoid.
Malaria exists all year throughout the country.

Hints for Chad: Women should wear modest clothes in Muslim areas. A headscarf is recommended. Business is conducted in French, very few executives speak English. Care should be taken to respect local conventions. Muslim customs do not encourage smoking and drinking. Use the right and not the left hand when passing or receiving food or gifts. Do not show soles of the feet when seated. Segregation of women is usual. Visits during Ramadan should be avoided. On social occasions dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. There are many restrictions on photography. The minimum drinking age is 18 years
