VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa: Thailand, for tourist visits up to 30 days, provided holding THB 10,000 per person or THB 20,000 per family & being ordinary passport holders of United Kingdom, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (S.A.R. passport holders), Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland Rep, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Kuwait, Laos, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States & Vietnam.
Visas are issued on arrival for tourist visits up to 15 days to nationals of Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Estonia, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Maldives, Mauritius, Oman, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan & Ukraine, provided holding confirmed tickets to leave Thailand within 15 days (must be submitted with application), THB 10,000 per person or THB 20,000 per family & enter through a designated international checkpoint.
TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except persons continuing their journey to a third country within 12 hours, provided holding tickets with confirmed reservations prior to arrival, documents required for onward journey & not leaving the airport transit lounge (except holders of Hong Kong Certificate of Identity).
HEALTH: Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas. The countries & areas included in the endemic zones are considered as infected areas. Infants under 1 year are exempt.
Recommended immunisations: Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese B Encephalitis, Malaria, Polio, TB, Tetanus & Typhoid.
Risks: Malaria exists all year in rural (particularly forest and hilly) areas throughout the country mainly toward the international borders. There is no risk in cities and the main tourist resorts (eg Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui). Rabies.
WEATHER: Rainfall is abundant throughout the country & mainly falls between Jun-Oct when it is warm, humid and cloudy. Nov-Apr is much drier with rain falling infrequently. The hottest months are Mar & May. Hot for most of the year particularly during the monsoon season between Jun-Oct. Outside the main rainy season, humidity is lower although temperatures remain high.
