VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa: Nicaragua, for stays of up to 90 days to Andorra, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Greece, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep of, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Sao Tome & Principe, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Island, South Africa, Spain, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, Tuvalu, Uruguay, United States, Vanuatu, Vatican City & Venezuela.
Nationals of countries that do not require a visa will however require a Tourist Card which can be issued on arrival.
TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 6 hours provided holding confirmed onward tickets.
HEALTH: Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas. Infants under 1 year are exempt.
Recommended immunisations: Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Malaria, TB, tetanus & Typhoid.
Risks: Malaria risk is high all year, the highest risk municipalities being Chinandega, Jinotega, Nueva Segovia, RAAN, RAAS & Rio San Juan; the risk is low or negligible in the departments of Madriz, Carazo & Masaya. Rabies.
WEATHER: There are two climatic regions; the hot & tropical lowlands and the cooler hill areas.
