VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa: Malta, for stays of up to 3 months to citizens of United Kingdom, citizens of Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong (S.A.R. passport holders only), Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela & Macao citizens holding "Regio Administrative Especial de Macao" passports.
TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the airport transit lounge.
Nationals of Sudan en route to Libya through Malta require a transit visa to enter Malta, a valid residence permit for Libya & a re-entry visa
HEALTH: Participants of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) which allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care.
Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas. Infants under 9 months are exempt although may be subject to isolation or surveillance if coming from an infected area.
Recommended immunisations: Tetanus & Polio.
WEATHER: Warm, dry and sunny summers. Winters are mild. The main rainy season occurs in the autumn however showers can occur at any time but are usually brief.
