VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa: Luxembourg, British citizens & subjects, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany (also applicable if holding former East German documents), Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela, holders of a valid resident permit issued by one of the Schengen countries of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain or Sweden &  for stays up to 90 days by nationals of Bulgaria, Guinea,-Bissau, Hong Kong & Romania.
TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and: persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or connecting aircraft, provided arriving & departing from/to a non-Schengen country, holding confirmed onward tickets departing within 72 hours & documentation for next destination (except nationals of Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Congo Dem Rep, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria & Turkey, unless a permanent resident of Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland Rep, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom or United States).
Transit without a visa is not available if any of the subsequent destinations or transit locations are a Schengen country requiring a visa. Therefore, as the passenger is entering the Schengen territory, which is a borderless territory, those nationals of countries requiring a visa for any Schengen state, which they are entering, require a visa at all times
All visitors must hold sufficient funds for length of stay. It is also recommended that visitors hold onward/return tickets & documents required for next destination, except nationals of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland Rep, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden & United Kingdom.
Members of the Schengen Visa Agreement should make enquiries prior to travel with the appropriate embassies of the countries within the agreement which they plan to visit.
HEALTH: Participants of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) which allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care.
There are currently no compulsory vaccinations required.
Recommended immunisations: Tetanus & Polio.
WEATHER: Summers are warm (May-Sep) particularly in the south which tends to be drier than the north. Winters can be severe with snow on the ground for some weeks. Rainfall is evenly spread throughout the year.
