VISAS: The following DO NOT require a visa: holders of British passports, citizens of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland Rep, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden & nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Korea (South), Liechtenstein, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, San Marino, South Africa, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay & Vatican City.
All visitors must hold onward/return tickets, documents required for next destination, pre-booked accommodation & sufficient funds for length of stay. Visitors must complete formalities with The Travel Co-ordinator at the Falklands Government Office, Falkland House, 14 Broadway, Westminster, London, SW1H 0BH, tel +44 (0) 20 7222 2542 or e-mail travel@falklands.gov.fk prior to departure or if travelling via South America contact the Immigration Officer, Customs & Immigration Department, Stanley, Falkland Islands, tel +500 27340, fax +500 27342, e-mail admin@customs.gov.fk. Travel by air to the Falkland Islands from the United Kingdom is operated by the Royal Air Force. Contact the Travel Co-ordinator for further details of the flight schedule. Due to limited seat allocation for civilian passengers it is advisable to book at least 30 days in advance. LAN-Chile also operate a weekly flight via Santiago, Puerto Montt & Punta Arenas.
TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey by the same of first connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the airport.
HEALTH: A reciprocal health agreement for medical treatment exists with the United Kingdom. In order to obtain treatment some proof of United Kingdom residence such as NHS medical card or driving licence will be required.
There are currently no compulsory vaccinations required.
Recommended immunisations: Tetanus & Polio. Yellow fever certificate recommended in case of aircraft being diverted (Royal Air Force flights only).
WEATHER: Summers are cool and quite short and winter months produce gales, sleet and snow.
