VISAS FOR BULGARIA

VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa: Bulgaria, for stays up to 90 days within a 6 month period to nationals of: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (S.A.R. passports), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Republic, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao (S.A.R. passports), Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela, United Kingdom (British Citizen Passport holders only) & for stays up to 30 days within a 6 month period by nationals of Israel, Macedonia & Serbia.
TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the transit area of the airport, provided holding confirmed onward tickets (except nationals of Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Congo Dem Rep, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka & Sudan). Persons in transit on board an aircraft of Bulgaria Air must hold an entry visa as may be required for their country of destination. Foreign citizens not in possession of onward or return tickets, visible means of support or documents required for their country of destination will be refused transportation.
HEALTH: A reciprocal health agreement for medical, dental and hospital treatment exists with the United Kingdom. In order to obtain treatment some proof of United Kingdom residence such as UK passport or NHS medical card will be required. Further details are available from www.dh.gov.uk. There are currently no compulsory vaccinations in place, however, it is r ecommended that travellers making 3 or more visits per year, stays of more than 3 months in a rural area, high-risk occupational groups & backpackers staying more than 1 month have the following up to date immunisations: Diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, polio, TB, tetanus, tick-borne encephalitis & typhoid.
WEATHER: Conditions vary depending on when & where visited. Coastal areas have hot, sunny summers although sudden blustery thunderstorms are not uncommon. Winters are usually mild but can have particularly cold spells strong enough to freeze the Danube. Inland, summers are warm to hot with cold winters. In mountain areas summers are sunny but cooler & winters cold & fresh with snow.

All passports must be valid for six months.
