TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft, provided holding confirmed tickets & documentation without leaving the airport transit area (except nationals of Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Congo Dem Rep, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria & Turkey, however if holding a valid residence document guaranteeing an absolute right to return for the following countries, a visa is not required: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom or United States)
Transit without a visa is not available if any of the subsequent destinations or transit locations are a Schengen country requiring a visa. Therefore, as the passenger is entering the Schengen territory, which is a borderless territory, those nationals of countries requiring a visa for any Schengen state, which they are entering, require a visa at all times.
All visitors must hold onward/return tickets & sufficient funds for length of stay, except nationals of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland Rep, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden & United Kingdom. Members of the Schengen Visa Agreement, however, we strongly recommend you make enquiries prior to travel with the appropriate Embassies of the countries within the agreement which they plan to visit.
HEALTH: Participants of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care. There are no compulsory vaccinations in place, however it is r ecommended that travellers have up to date tetanus & polio immunisations.
WEATHER: The summer period (May-Sep) is usually warm with the central areas being slightly warmer than coastal regions, although conditions can be changeable. Winters are generally colder in central areas but particularly so in the Ardennes region in the south which can have long spells of snow.
