ALGERIAN WEATHER: The Mediterranean coastlands and northern mountains have a typical Mediterranean climate with winter rainfall. The remainder of the country (to the south of the Saharan Atlas Mountains) is virtually rain free. In the north most of the rainfall is between Sep-May (which falls as snow at higher altitudes. )During May-Sep the weather is generally hot whilst the rest of the year is more changeable. The Atlas Mountains and Plateaux have a more extreme climate with hotter summers and colder winters. Nights can become very cold. Rainfall is low with the wettest seasons being in spring and autumn. The Sahara Desert region has almost no rain and daily temperatures are high, although during winter the nights can be cold.
