

BULGARIA VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa:
Bulgaria
For stays of up to 90 days within a 6 month period to: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (S.A.R Passports) Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Republic, Italy, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela & holders of a British passport with ‘right of abode’ label and endorsed: British subject, British National (Overseas) or British Overseas Territories Citizen.
Important Notice
Family members of any EU citizen, who do not have the nationality of the EU Members State, are entitled to the same rights as the EU citizens for their travel to Bulgaria. This only applies to those having permanent residence in an EU country (ILR) and travelling together, or going to Bulgaria to join their family members who are already in the country. Family members of the EU citizen should be in a position to present, on request, a marriage certificate or birth certificate legalized and translated into the official language of an EU member country.
A visa is required for British subjects, e.g. of Irish descent and born before 1 January 1949. Failure to do so will mean that you will be refused entry.
BULGARIA TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving the transit area of the airport, provided holding confirmed onward tickets (except nationals of Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Congo Dem Rep, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka & Sudan). Persons in transit on board an aircraft of Bulgaria Air must hold an entry visa as may be required for their country of destination. Foreign citizens not in possession of onward or return tickets, visible means of support or documents required for their country of destination will be refused transportation.
BULGARIA HEALTH: A reciprocal health agreement for medical, dental and hospital treatment exists with the United Kingdom. In order to obtain treatment some proof of United Kingdom residence such as UK passport or NHS medical card will be required. Further details are available from www.dh.gov.uk. There are currently no compulsory vaccinations in place, however, it is r ecommended that travellers making 3 or more visits per year, stays of more than 3 months in a rural area, high-risk occupational groups & backpackers staying more than 1 month have the following up to date immunisations: Diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, polio, TB, tetanus, tick-borne encephalitis & typhoid.
BULGARIA WEATHER: Conditions vary depending on when & where visited. Coastal areas have hot, sunny summers although sudden blustery thunderstorms are not uncommon. Winters are usually mild but can have particularly cold spells strong enough to freeze the Danube. Inland, summers are warm to hot with cold winters. In mountain areas summers are sunny but cooler & winters cold & fresh with snow.
