EGYPT VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa:
Egypt & Kuwait (who will be issued with 6 month residence permit on arrival)
For tourist stays of up to 15 days to: Malaysia
For tourist stays of up to 3 months to: Bahrain, Guinea, Jordan (with passport validity of 5 years), Korea (Rep of), Libya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Yemen Republic.
For a stay of up to 14 days to visit the Gulf of Aqaba resorts (Sharm El Sheikh, Taba, Nuweiba Taba Heights and Dahab) to nationals of UK, Ireland and EC countries. If visitors wish to travel outside these villages, even for a trip to the desert, or to others parts in Sinai (including Ras Mohamed National Park, Mount Sinai and St Catherine's Monastery) and to the rest of Egypt, a full entry visa is required. If tourists are not sure of their itinerary in Egypt, it is advisable to obtain a full entry visa to avoid any travel restrictions and the consequent inconvenience. EGYPT TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to a third country within 24 hours without leaving the airport, provided holding confirmed tickets & nationals of Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Philippines & holders of Palestinian documents may transit Cairo Airport (provided not leaving the airport transit lounge & continuing by the same or first connecting aircraft) & holders of South African passports must obtain a stamp in their passport from the consulate prior to travel to allow them to transit. EGYPT HEALTH: Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas. All infants under 1 year are exempt. Air passengers in transit coming from countries or areas without a certificate will be detained in the precincts of the airport until they resume their journey.
Recommended immunisations: Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Malaria, Polio, TB, Tetanus & Typhoid.
Risks: Malaria- very limited risk exists from Jun-Oct in El Faiyum area (no reported cases since 1998). Rabies. EGYPT WEATHER:Apart from along the Mediterranean coast Egypt's climate is nearly entirely desert. The winter period (Nov-Mar) on the Mediterranean coast can be variable although it is usually sunny. Summers are hot but temperatures are tempered by strong sea breezes. In the south summer temperatures can be intense, however, the low humidity makes the heat more bearable and winters are dry and sunny.
