ERITREA VISAS: The following nationals DO NOT require a visa:
Eritrea & holders of passports issued to nationals of Kenya & Uganda.
ERITREA TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same aircraft within 6 hours without leaving the airport transit area, provided holding confirmed onward tickets & documentation.
ERITREA HEALTH: Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow fever certificate if arriving from infected areas.
Recommended immunisations: Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Malaria, Meningitis, Polio, TB, Tetanus & Typhoid.
Risks: Malaria exists all year throughout the country below 2,000 metres. There is no risk in Asmara. Rabies.
ERITREA WEATHER: Eritrea has 3 climate zones- the central plateau, coastal areas & the western low land. The highest temperatures in the central plateau are in May with 25°C. Temperatures can fall as low as freezing at night during Dec. Large temperature differences occur between day & night. There are 2 rainy seasons, the short one is Mar-Apr & the main one between Jun-Sep with fog from Dec-Feb. In the coastal areas June & Aug have the highest temperatures (25°C to 40°C) & even during the colder season temperatures rarely fall below 18°C. The northern coast has a rainy season between Dec-Feb. Rainfall is scarce in the southern coastal strip. In the western low land the hottest season is Apr-Jun with temperatures up to 40°C. Dec is the coldest month (around 12°C) with the rain season similar to the central plateau.
