FALKLAND ISLANDS VISAS: The following DO NOT require a visa:
Holders of British passports, citizens of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland & nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Korea (South), Liechtenstein, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, San Marino, South Africa, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City & holders of a Hong Kong (SAR China) passport
Visitors must hold confirmed return or onward tickets
FALKLAND ISLANDS TRANSIT VISAS: Required by all except those as noted above and persons continuing their journey by the same of first connecting aircraft within 24 hours without leaving
All visitors must hold proof of onward/return tickets, pre-booked accommodation & sufficient funds to cover length of stay;
Visitors must also have proof of comprehensive travel insurance, inclusive of aero-medical evacutation;
All departing land-based visitors must pay a £22 departure tax in cash at Mount Pleasant International airport. ATMs are not available, so visitors are advised to carry cash and can pay in Falkland pounds, pounds Sterling or US dollars. Mount Pleasant International airport code is MPN, this should be used when searching for available LAN flights.
FALKLAND ISLANDS HEALTH: A reciprocal health agreement for medical treatment exists with the United Kingdom. In order to obtain treatment some proof of United Kingdom residence such as NHS medical card or driving licence will be required.
There are currently no compulsory vaccinations required.
Recommended immunisations: Tetanus & Polio. Yellow fever certificate recommended in case of aircraft being diverted (Royal Air Force flights only).
FALKLAND ISLANDS WEATHER: Summers are cool and quite short and winter months produce gales, sleet and snow.
